| dc.description.abstract | This study aims to determine whether there is a significant difference between students' abilities to read narrative texts using image series in the second grade at SMPN 22 Batam. The sample size was 52 pupils in total. This study employed a quantitative research methodology. By administering tests with 30 multiple-choice items for each test, pre-test and post-test data were collected. T-test was performed to assess the data. The findings of this study demonstrate a substantial difference between narrative text with picture series and without picture series on students' reading comprehension. As can be seen, the value of degree of significance on the df = 50 and in the degree of significance 5% is 2.01. By comparing the value tO is higher than tt. The result showed that t-observation (tO) > t-table (tt) (4.77 > 2.01) The null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected whereas the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Therefore, it may be argued that using picture books to teach reading can impact how well students understand narrative text. | en_US |
