dc.description.abstract Multiparty cannot be separated from the life of the Indonesian state. Even multi-party has existed before Indonesia's independence. Throughout the history of the Indonesian state administration, the multi-party system is the only system that applies in Indonesia. However, the problem is that the multiparty system is not directly proportional to the number of presidential candidates, especially after the 1999 general election, so that it becomes an interesting discussion about the effectiveness of multiparty itself. Because as understood one of the goals of political parties is to play an active role in the government and more than that to be able to lead the government itself. Therefore, this paper focuses on the effectiveness of multi-party within the framework of contitution in Indonesia. The type of research in this paper is to use doctrinal/normative/positivism law. Normative research is legal research conducted by examining library materials or secondary data. The data collection technique used is by using library techniques, namely reviewing and examining existing library materials and documents, which are in accordance with the field of this writing. The multi-party system must be able to be effective in the political system in Indonesia, this is as mandated by the constitution en_US
