Abstract:
Batam Raja Ali Haji Museum is one of the museums in the Riau Islands and the only one in Batam
City. Managed by the Batam City Culture and Tourism Office. This study aims to determine the
history of the Batam City, existing collections and how to manage, and how use the Batam Raja Ali
Haji Museum as a source of learning history. This type of research is a qualitative research. The
method used in this research is descriptive method. Data was collected through observation,
interviews, and documentation. The validity of the data in this study, the researchers used
triangulation techniques. The data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman method which
consists of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions and verification. The results show
that the history of the establishment of the Batam Raja Ali Haji Museum was initiated by Ahmad
Dahlan, the Mayor of Batam for the period 2006-2016. The collection at the Batam Raja Ali Haji
Museum consists of various collections and displays that can be used as a source of learning history.
Batam Raja Ali Haji Museum can be an alternative learning outside the classroom and increase
knowledge about Malay culture, especially in Batam City.

pengetahuan masyarakat, serta terbuka untuk umum mempelajari cara mengawetkan, melakukan penelitian, melakukan penyampaian, rekreasi, dan
memberikan tahukan aset-aset barang berharga yang nyata dan tidak nyata tentang
lingkungannya kepada masyarakat. Provinsi Kepulauan Riau terdapat 5 museum
yang tersebar di berbagai wilayah kota dan kabupaten. Kelima museum tersebut
contohnya Museum Bahari Bintan di Bintan, Museum Sultan Sulaiman Badrul
Alamsyah di Kota Tanjung Pinang, Museum Linggam Cahaya di Lingga, Museum
Sri Serindit di Natuna, dan Museum Batam Raja Ali Haji di Kota Batam.
