Gultom, Monica Christi Artani

This research analyzed the language style used by YouTuber Bailey Sarian in the video
“Chris Watts – 2000 Page Discovery Murder, Mystery & Makeup” using Martin Joos's (1967)
language style theory, which classified language styles into five types: frozen, formal,
consultative, casual, and intimate. The purpose of this research is to determine what
language style Bailey used in that video and which language style is dominant. Using
descriptive qualitative methods, the document data collection technique, Miles and
Huberman’s model analysis technique, and analytical template, the researcher identified
and analyzed the video transcript, resulting in a total of 253 data, consisting of 5 formal
styles, 113 consultative styles, 133 casual styles, and 2 intimate styles. The results show
that Bailey Sarian uses informal and flexible language, making the storytelling more
engaging, easy to understand, and emotionally resonant, while still maintaining its
informative purpose. No frozen language styles were found in the analyzed data. It can be
seen that the dominant language style used was casual. This research concluded that the
appropriate language style served an important role in the effectiveness of storytelling
content on social media such as YouTube.

This research aims to explore the community structure and density of sea cucumbers
(Holothuroidea) in the tropical waters of Abang Island, Batam. The methodology
employed involves field surveys using a transect-quadrant technique for the collection of
data on species, density, and environmental parameters such as temperature, salinity,
pH, and dissolved oxygen. The results indicate that the species composition is dominated
by Holothuria leucospilota at Station 1 and Holothuria fuscocinerea at Station 2. The
highest density for Holothuria leucospilota was recorded at 0.130 individuals/m² at
Station 1, while Holothuria fuscocinerea reached a density of 0.150 individuals/m². The
highest diversity index value was found at Station 1 (H' = 1.07), whereas the highest
dominance was recorded at Station 2 (D = 0.691). Pearson correlation analysis revealed
that salinity and temperature have the most significant relationship with sea cucumber
abundance, varying by station location. These findings suggest that the community
structure of sea cucumbers is heavily influenced by habitat characteristics and
environmental quality.

Diversity of bird species in the Duriangkang Protected Forest, Batam City

This study aims to identify bird species, analyze their diversity levels, and
assess their habitat conditions. This study used a descriptive quantitative method,
where observations were conducted using the point count method at three different
locations: forest edges, forests, and gardens. From the results of the study, a total of 21
bird species were successfully identified. There were significant differences in diversity
between the three locations. The forest (Station 2) recorded the highest level of diversity
(H' = 2.21) and the lowest species dominance (D = 0.14) due to its complete and natural
vegetation. This condition provides abundant food sources and shelter, thus supporting
the existence of many bird species in a balanced manner. In contrast, gardens (Station
3) had the lowest diversity (H' = 1.74) and the highest species dominance (D = 0.22).
This is thought to be due to less diverse vegetation and high disturbance from human
activities. Meanwhile, the forest edge (Station 1) was in the middle condition, with
moderate diversity (H' = 2.00) and moderate dominance (D = 0.20). This situation
indicates that the area still benefits from the forest environment, but is also beginning
to be pressured by surrounding human activities. Overall, it can be concluded that
natural and diverse habitats support a higher diversity of bird species, while disturbed
areas tend to have lower diversity and are dominated by certain species.
